Yoko Kloeden Design is an architecture, interior and garden design studio based in London, founded in 2016. We work on private homes, treating the building, the interiors and the garden as one design — because how a house meets its light, its garden and its seasons is what decides how it feels to live in.
Our philosophy is yūgen (幽玄) — a Japanese principle concerned with depth and restraint, with what is suggested rather than stated. Five ideas follow from it: hikari (光), light and shadow together; nagame (眺め), the framed view; ma (間), meaningful space; shizen (自然), materials that age and register the season; and taru o shiru (足るを知る), knowing what is enough. Together they are how a home becomes calm rather than merely quiet.
